Hovione Macau was inaugurated in 1986 and is approved by the FDA since 1987. The facilities are certified in accordance with both the ISO9001 and the ISO14001. With a total reactor capacity of approximately 100m3, Hovione Macau employs 120 people producing both generic and custom synthesis products. Customers include leading generic companies, large pharma and biotechs. The plant benefits from its proximity to the People’s Republic of China for the supply of raw materials. In 2001, a new automated production building was commissioned which doubled the plant's manufacturing capacity. The Macau plant operates 7 days per week, 3 shifts a day. Plant maintenance shutdown occurs for 3 to 4 weeks in August.
